Sean Fitzpatrick is a pioneering Internet journalist, editor, and business strategy consultant specializing in usability. He got his start on the Internet in 1995 when he helped develop and launch StarNet (Arizona Daily Star), one of the first 10 newspaper web sites in the world. Sean was running user communities back when no one knew what they were.
Broad experience ranging from media to non-profits
Sean has leveraged his journalism and Internet experience to the benefit of Fortune 500, newspaper, television, magazine, and non-profit companies, as well as the museum and science center industry. His background in journalism and understanding of business needs allow him to help clients create an optimal user experience while accomplishing the organization’s goals. He specializes in cross-media workflow optimization.
Proven track record
As Director of New Media at Wick Communications, Sean led a redesign that doubled site traffic in 9 months. His work at MySanAntonio.com, the web site for the San Antonio Express-News (Hearst Corporation) and KENS 5 television (Belo) led to the property’s highest-ever site traffic. As Digital Media Senior Producer at The Arizona Republic, Sean oversaw development of the online edition of The Arizona Republic, a Gannett newspaper.
Committed to non-profits and social change
Sean’s personal commitment to non-profits is legendary. He continues to serve as Special Projects Manager at Flandrau: The University of Arizona Science Center, socializing best practices in digital media. He has also made a significant difference in the lives of at-risk youth via his volunteerism with Voices: Community Stories Past and Present, Inc., an after-school magazine program that provides professional mentoring relationships with low-income, at-risk youth to teach writing, interviewing and photography.
